The Heckler & Koch SP5K-PDW is a compact semi-automatic platform derived from the legendary MP5K design, enhanced with PDW (Personal Defense Weapon) features. It is engineered to provide maximum reliability, precision and controllability while maintaining minimal overall dimensions, utilizing the proven roller-delayed blowback system.
The firearm is chambered in 9 × 19 mm and operates in semi-automatic mode. The trigger pull ranges from 30 to 45 N, consistent with its duty-oriented design. Feeding is handled by magazines with capacities of 10, 15 or 30 rounds, fully compatible with the MP5 platform.
The 148 mm barrel is manufactured from cold hammer-forged steel with a traditional rifled bore (6 grooves, right-hand twist) and a hard chrome lining. Muzzle velocity reaches approximately 315 m/s, with a muzzle energy of about 395 J. The barrel features a tri-lug interface for quick attachment of compatible suppressors.
The overall length is 350 mm, width 61 mm, height 220 mm, with a 260 mm sight radius. The unloaded weight is approximately 2.05 kg, contributing to excellent stability and reduced muzzle rise during firing.
The SP5K-PDW variant is equipped with a folding (or telescoping PDW) stock, significantly improving handling and controllability while preserving compact transport dimensions. Ergonomics are based on the MP5 platform, including the characteristic handguard and fully ambidextrous controls.
The firearm features a rotary drum rear sight with 4 positions, allowing quick adjustment for various engagement distances. Field stripping can be performed without tools, simplifying maintenance. The platform also supports accessory mounting via an optional NATO STANAG 4694 rail and offers a modular interface for different stock and handguard configurations.
