The Smith & Wesson M&P15 Tactical is a modern semi-automatic rifle based on the AR-15 platform, designed as a versatile platform for a wide range of recreational, sport shooting, and professional applications. Chambered in 5.56 NATO and equipped with a 16-inch barrel made from 4140 steel with an Armornite® finish, it combines durability, reliability, and accuracy. The barrel features a 1:8" twist rate with 5R rifling, is threaded, and fitted with an A2 Birdcage flash suppressor. Armornite® is a hardened nitride finish that enhances corrosion and wear resistance while reducing light reflection and improving surface lubricity.
The rifle features a 15-inch free-float rail system with M-LOK® capability, allowing flexible attachment of a wide range of compatible accessories while the free-floating design helps preserve barrel accuracy. It is equipped with folding Magpul® MBUS® sights, while the upper mounting interface is also ready for an optical sight. The rifle features an aluminum receiver, forged integral trigger guard, forward assist, and ejection port dust cover. A flat-face trigger is also included.
Ergonomics are enhanced by an adjustable B5 Systems SOPMOD stock and B5 Systems grip. The rifle features an ambidextrous manual safety lever, making operation convenient for both right- and left-handed shooters. The Magpul® PMAG® magazine has a 30-round capacity, and one magazine is supplied with the rifle. Overall length is approximately 33.5 inches (85.1 cm), width 2.75 inches (7.0 cm), height 7.4 inches (18.8 cm), and weight 111.04 oz (3.15 kg).
