The current selection includes both the classic .44 Magnum and .357 Magnum chamberings, along with attractive finishes including Case Hardened and ceramic Cerakote™ coatings.
The Desert Eagle from Magnum Research, Inc. is far from an ordinary semi-automatic pistol. Its robust construction, distinctive proportions and unmistakable design immediately set it apart, while beneath the imposing exterior lies a technically sophisticated operating system. The Mark XIX series uses a gas-operated system with a rotating bolt, an unusual approach for a pistol that allows it to reliably handle powerful handgun cartridges.
The current selection is represented primarily by .44 Magnum Mark XIX models, complemented by a distinctive .357 Magnum variant. The combination of high power, massive construction and unmistakable appearance is a major part of what has made the Desert Eagle such an iconic pistol.
Desert Eagle Mark XIX in .44 Magnum
For fans of the classic Desert Eagle, we have two Mark XIX models chambered in .44 Magnum. The DE44BB comes in an attractive Burnt Bronze finish using a durable Cerakote ceramic coating. The contrast between the bronze-colored surface and black components emphasizes the distinctive appearance of the pistol while providing the finish with high resistance during normal use.
The second variant, the DE44CATU, features a Tungsten Cerakote finish. This model was introduced in 2017 and is based on a configuration approved for sale in California. Both models share the robust carbon-steel construction, precision CNC machining and characteristic Mark XIX operating system.
The .44 Magnum models use an 8-round magazine and a 6" (152 mm) barrel. The barrel features a polygonal bore with six lands and grooves and a right-hand 1:18" (457 mm) twist rate. The single-action trigger has an approximate pull weight of 4 lb (1.8 kg), while the fixed combat sights provide a 215 mm sight radius.
A Distinctive Desert Eagle Mark XIX in .357 Magnum
An even more distinctive character is offered by the DE357CH, chambered in .357 Magnum, which combines the Mark XIX platform with an attractive Case Hardened finish protected by a transparent coating. The appearance is further enhanced by a gold-plated trigger and walnut grips featuring an engraved Desert Eagle logo. The pistol is also supplied with Hogue rubber grips, giving the user an alternative grip option.
The 6" barrel measures 152 mm and features a polygonal bore with six lands and grooves and a 1:14" (355 mm) right-hand twist rate. Magazine capacity is 9 rounds, giving this .357 Magnum variant one additional round compared with the .44 Magnum models. It also features a single-action trigger with an approximate pull weight of 4 lb (1.8 kg), fixed sights and a 215 mm sight radius.
The Characteristic Desert Eagle Mark XIX Design
All current variants share the distinctive Desert Eagle Mark XIX design. The pistol uses a gas-operated system with a rotating bolt, while the robust carbon-steel construction is precision-machined using CNC technology. A Weaver rail runs along the barrel, allowing the installation of compatible optical sights and other accessories. These configurations are also equipped with an ambidextrous manual safety.
The ergonomically shaped grip provides a natural grip angle and stable positioning in the hand. Although this is a substantial pistol by any standard, that very character is an integral part of its appeal. The Desert Eagle was never designed to be discreet or minimalist. Its distinctive silhouette, massive slide and large-caliber chamberings make it a pistol that simply cannot be overlooked.
The 6" variants measure 10.7" (273 mm) in overall length, 6.3" (159 mm) in height and 1.3" (32 mm) in slide width. Depending on the specific configuration, weight is approximately 4.4–4.5 lb (2 kg). The DE44BB and DE44CATU weigh approximately 1,999 g, while the DE357CH weighs approximately 2,027 g, all with an empty magazine.
