The Heckler & Koch USP Standard is a full-size semi-automatic pistol designed for sport shooting, duty use, and civilian ownership, built on the proven USP platform with a strong emphasis on safety, reliability, and long service life. It represents the balanced, core version of the USP series chambered in 9 × 19 mm.
The pistol is chambered in 9 mm × 19 and operates on a recoil-operated system using a modified Browning locking system. Feeding is provided by a detachable magazine with a capacity of 15 rounds, with cartridge case ejection to the right side.
The trigger system is available in CDA, SA/DA, and DAO configurations. Trigger travel is 14 mm with a reset of 7 mm. A combined manual safety and decocking lever, along with an automatic hammer safety and firing pin block, ensures a high level of operational safety.
The 108 mm barrel is made from cold hammer-forged special steel, hard chrome-plated, and features a polygonal profile with six grooves and a right-hand twist. The barrel design ensures low wear and is approved for all SAAMI and C.I.P. ammunition types in 9 × 19 mm. Muzzle velocity reaches 364 m/s, with a muzzle energy of 530 J.
The frame is constructed from ultra-high-strength polymer, providing durability while keeping weight low. The weight of the pistol without a magazine is 720 g, and the magazine weighs 53 g. Overall length is 195 mm, height 135 mm, and width 32 mm, with a sight radius of 158 mm.
The USP Standard is equipped with an open square sight featuring self-illuminating contrast dots, allowing fast target acquisition even in poor lighting conditions. Slide serrations ensure secure handling when cocking the pistol, even with gloves or wet hands. Controls are designed for both right- and left-handed shooters.
