Taurus 692 in this configuration is a medium-frame multi-caliber revolver designed primarily for sport and range shooting. It offers the ability to use .357 Magnum, .38 Special +P, and 9mm Luger ammunition, with the caliber changed between .357 Magnum / .38 Special +P and 9mm Luger by simply swapping the cylinder. The revolver is supplied with two cylinders and has a 7-round capacity.
The revolver operates in DA/SA mode, allowing both double-action and single-action firing, and features an external spurred hammer. The adjustable rear sight allows precise adjustment of the point of aim, while the fixed front sight provides a simple and durable sighting system.
The main difference compared to the shorter version is the long 6.5" (165 mm) ported barrel, which helps manage recoil and reduce muzzle rise for faster target reacquisition. The longer barrel also provides a longer sight radius and contributes to accurate shooting at the range. The ergonomic Taurus Ribber Grip® is designed to provide a secure and comfortable hold.
For use with 9mm Luger ammunition, the revolver is supplied with Stellar Clips, which assist with loading and extraction.
The frame, cylinder, and barrel are made from alloy steel and feature a matte black finish. The revolver is also equipped with a transfer bar mechanism, providing an additional measure of protection against accidental discharge.
