Double-base smokeless gunpowders contain, in addition to nitrocellulose, nitroglycerin (8–23%) as an energetic component. As a result, they have a higher energy content than single-base powders and provide greater ballistic performance in firearms. They also contain small amounts of stabilizers and other additives, similar to those used in single-base powders.

This is a dense, double-base extruded tubular powder similar to Accurate 5744. It is intended primarily for .45-70 Government, .45-120, and .50-90 Sharps cartridges, and is also suitable for reduced-charge rifle loads in all calibers.
